THE PROCESS: FROM THE PHOTOS TO THE LETTERING

The creation process behing this project embraces different languages of visual communication.

It all started with the script which pointed at the environments to be shot. Once they the layouts for the photos was finalised, the
illustrator populated them by inserting character sketches into the scenes according to the intended poses. Once the storyboard was approved, she began working on the fine details with pencil drawing followed by the inking.

The colourist then took charge of laying down the spot colours on the characters while at the same time the photographer carried on the
post-production aimed at adding character and atmosphere to the background images with the goal of reaching the most effective
result for the drawn shadows and lights in comparison to the actual ones of the photographs.

Through the arrangement of the balloons and lettering, it was finally achieved the proper layout of a comic, and made possible the subsequent analysis of the elements of illustration and inserts with which the book was enriched.
